LOUDOUN IS DC’S WINE COUNTRY
My husband and I love any excuse to go out to the wine country!
Our appreciation began when we went to Napa and Sonoma Valley for a vacation (pre-children). We moved to Northern Virginia a few years later and discovered our own little wine country here in Loudoun!
Just 25 miles from our nation’s capital, Loudoun features more than 35 award-wining wineries and tasting rooms, the most of any county in Virginia, and is grouped into six clusters. Each cluster is an experience in itself, along winding roads and up mountainsides, past regal horse farms and historic estates, and besides miles and miles of elegant stacked stone fence.
We have particularly enjoyed the summer concerts at Tarara, Mother’s Day Brunch at Hillsborough (we are going again this year!), and the Key West Fest at Breaux! While I am not touting myself as a wine expert, I have made my own personal list of Loudoun Counties top wineries that are a must to experience. (I had this list created into a magnet for my clients, friends and family this past Christmas. If you want one, just let me know and I will send one your way!).
