Located on the eastern most part of Loudoun County, on what was once rolling countryside and dairy farms sits the bustling community of Sterling, Virginia. Sterling is convenient to Dulles International Airport and provides easy access to Washington, DC making it an ideal place to live. Sterling offers a diverse mix of housing options. From stylish condos, to town home communities, to gracious homes on large lots bordering the Potomac River, you can find the home of your dreams here.

There is a seemingly endless array of shopping choices in Sterling. The Dulles Town Center is a regional shopping destination with many stores and restaurants. From bustling market centers with choices from around the world to local produce at seasonal farmer’s markets to Wegmans, the famous gourmet grocery store, Sterling has something for every epicurean taste. My favorite places to dine in Sterling would have to be Sweetwater Tavern, Mokomandy and The Dons Wood-Fired Pizza. Every year, Redskins players come out to The Dons to serve free pizza and sign autographs (they pick a different charity to support each year).

Recreational choices also abound in Sterling. Located on the bank of the Potomac River, Algonkian Regional Park has a par-72 golf course, a large water park known as Volcano Island, hiking trails, picnic shelters, river cottages for camping, and a public boat launch. This park has something for everyone! We love taking walks on the golf course path to look for deer, and then head to the boat launch.
Claude Moore Park is a bit different from Algonkian Regional Park. This park offers fields for sporting events and acres of nature trails, ponds and scenic vistas from which to enjoy the abundant wildlife. Also nestled in the park is the Loudoun Heritage Farm Museum and an outstanding Rec Center, with an indoor pool center, aerobics studio, rock climbing and more.

Sterling is made up of several neighborhoods, each with their own unique charm, including Potomac Falls, Cascades, Lowes Island, Broadrun Farms, Sterling Park, Sugarland Run, Countryside, and Rivercrest, among others. Sterling is a fabulous place to live! I have been showing and previewing a lot of great homes in this area and will let you know what’s available in my next post.
